In January 2003, my subscription copy of Classic Rock magazine arrived and a sample disk fell out from a band I’d never heard of. Feeling adventurous, I stuck the disk in the car for my commute to work – within five minutes of being at my desk I’d ordered 2 CDs and a DVD.
The band are called Mostly Autumn and hail from York. It’s always difficult to categorise or label a band, but there are echoes of Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Jethro Tull intertwined, especially in earlier releases, with a celtic edge.
MA’s music has really been the soundtrack to the last five years to me, and I’ve seen the band over ten times, including a memorable convention in 2007 when the band and a few hundred fans got together for a weekend.
I’m very proud of the fact that I do my bit for them as one of the moderators on their official forum and I created and maintain the (very unofficial) family tree.
